Buy WellbutrinWellbutrin is the brand name of the generic medication Bupropion as marketed in the United States and Canada by the GlaxoSmithKline pharmaceutical company. It is also commonly known as Zyban, a stop-smoking aid and by the brand names of Buxon, Odranal, Quomen, Well, WellbutrinSR, Zyban LP and Zyban Sustained Release or Zyban SR. Wellbutrin itself is available in the original Wellbutrin dosage as well as a Wellbutrin SR and Wellbutrin XL version. Wellbutrin was originally approved in 1985 as a treatment for major depressive disorder. Since then it has been approved in the slow release (SR) and XL versions (1996 and 2003). Wellbutrin XL was approved in 2006 to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and, in 1997, it was approved as Zyban for smoking cessation. It has also been reportedly used as an aid to weight loss, bipolar disorder, Lupus, ADD and ADHD, fibromyalgia, arthritis and chronic fatigue syndrome. These off-label claims, however, have not been evaluated by the American Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Wellbutrin works by affecting neurotransmitters in the brain and how they select and transmit electrical signals (information). For people with depression, the drug can block the path of the depressive thoughts, making the person feel less “down.” However, people taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), another type of antidepressant drug, should cease that therapy at least 14 days prior to switching to Wellbutrin, as these two types of drugs do not work well together. You also should not take Wellbutrin if you suffer from seizures or an eating disorder. Wellbutrin’s use is not recommended for those who have suddenly stopped using any type of sedative, whether prescription or over-the-counter (this includes alcohol) or are using a second form of Bupropion. Wellbutrin is well tolerated in most people and has fewer side effects than many anti-depressant medications. Some of the mild to moderate side effects can include weight loss, mild to moderate agitation, dry mouth, constipation and headaches. Some people also experience dizziness, nausea, increased sweating and blurred vision. Reports of shakiness (tremors), rapid heart rate and insomnia may be related to the agitation, but sometimes occur without the other side effect. More severe side effects have also been reported, including high or low blood pressure, seizures, arthritis, anxiety, indigestion, increased appetite, increased or decreased sex drive, impotence and fainting. All side effects noted after beginning treatment should be reported to your doctor. While Wellbutrin is generally well tolerated, not everyone is affected by the medication the same way and patient monitoring, especially at the onset of treatment, is critical. Some people have thoughts of suicide when antidepressant therapy is begun, especially if they are under 25 years of age and this includes beginning treatment with Wellbutrin. If you are young person beginning a course of treatment that includes Wellbutrin, your doctor will likely monitor you very closely during the first 12 weeks to see how you tolerate the medication and if your dosage needs to be adjusted. Wellbutrin is usually administered orally as a small round orange tablet. It comes in a variety of dosages, but your doctor will decide which dosage you should take and how often. While taking Wellbutrin you should not drink alcohol as this may increase your risk of experiencing seizures. Wellbutrin should not be combined with any other form of the same drug as in Zyban to quit smoking. As with most anti-depressants, Wellbutrin may slow your thinking process and reaction time so you will want to be cautious when driving or operating equipment. If you have a job that requires you to do these or similar activities, talk to your doctor about whether Wellbutrin or similar drugs are the best choice for your particular situation.
