An organized medication schedule is important in ensuring seniors' positive health outcomes

Older patients may benefit from buying their prescription medications from a Canadian online pharmacy.

Older patients may benefit from buying their prescription medications from a Canadian online pharmacy. This could not only help them save money, but also enable them to keep better track of the drugs they take. According to a study from Northwestern Medicine, seniors take an average of seven different medications each day, which can become confusing.

Lead researcher Michael Wolf and his team explained that a complex regimen may keep people from taking their drugs properly. As a result, these individuals may not be getting the full benefits from their medicine.

Wolf's paper, which appears in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine, reported that a universal medication schedule that separates necessary doses into four periods each day - morning, noon, evening and bedtime - could relieve some of the confusion and anxiety that many seniors experience.

"Standardizing the time to take medicine will help patients safely take their [drugs], make their lives easier and improve their health outcomes," Wolf said.

Staying organized can be as simple as allocating drugs purchased from a Canadian online pharmacy into clearly marked pillboxes, one for each designated period of the day during which to take medication. Additionally, buying products online could help relieve some of the financial stress that many seniors experience.
