Asian mushroom is 100 percent successful at preventing tumor growth in mice, study shows

Although these established medications can be very effective, new remedies are being researched all the time. One of these innovative treatments is a mushroom that has been used medicinally in Asia for centuries.
According to a paper published in the journal Public Library of Science One, the mushroom has been shown to be 100 percent effective in suppressing the development of prostate tumors in mice.
Lead author Patrick Ling and his colleagues from the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Center said that these findings could represent an important step towards fighting the disease.
"In the past, other inihibitors tested in research trials have been shown to be up to 70 percent effective, but we're seeing 100 percent of this tumor prevented from developing with [the mushroom]," Ling explained. "Importantly, we did not see any side effects from the treatment."
Further research is scheduled to take place later this year in order to provide more insight into the mushroom's therapeutic potential.
