Thrifty shoppers who purchase cheap medication from Canada may be part of an increasing trend, as a survey conducted by Pharmacy Checker reveals that more people are saving money by getting their prescription drugs from Canadian internet pharmacies. In fact, these online resources represent the greatest savings over traditional brick-and-mortar purchases, ranging from 73 percent to 92 percent on popular products.
Escalating prices in the U.S. have prompted many consumers to turn to the internet for their medications. For example, the report revealed that individuals who bought Actos to manage type 2 diabetes spent about $826 on a three-month supply from a brick-and-mortar pharmacy. Meanwhile, those who made the purchase through a Canadian internet pharmacy paid only $134.65, according to researchers.
"Since we began our work in 2002, drug prices have continued to rise in the U.S.," said Tod Cooperman, president of Pharmacy Checker. "According to a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of Americans not taking medication due to cost rose to 25 million in 2009."
Patients who are concerned about saving money on their prescription drugs may be able to do so by acquiring these products from a Canadian internet pharmacy.
