Osteoarthritis is a painful, uncomfortable joint disease for which many patients buy Celebrex. Diagnosing this disorder in its early stages is crucial to delaying its progression. Recently, doctors from Lund University in Sweden revealed a new method that could help diagnose the illness when it is first beginning, which can improve their chances of slowing or stopping its development.
Carl Siversson and his colleagues improved a method called delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC), which was developed years ago in conjunction with scientists from Harvard Medical School. This technique allowed physicians to determine the degree of osteoarthritis in a patient, even in its earliest stages.
Siversson's team adjusted this method so that they would be able to study all of the cartilage in an individual's joint at once. They have tested the technique on both healthy people and those with osteoarthritis.
"Now we are continuing our work to make the method easy for doctors to use in their practice. Our hope is that the method will also be significant for future drug development," Siversson explained.
