Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness, but its symptoms can be alleviated when patients buy Zyprexa and other established medications. Recently, Jannsen - a division of Ortho-McNeil-Jannsen Pharmaceuticals - launched a half-hour documentary entitled "Living With Schizophrenia: A Call for Hope and Recovery," which tells the story of three patients who are living meaningful lives despite having the disorder.
The film aims to increase understanding about schizophrenia, as well as reduce the fear and stigma that have often been associated with the condition.
"'Living with Schizophrenia' highlights the stories that don't make the headlines - the stories of hope and promise," said Emily Abt, who directed the film. "My grandmother struggled with schizophrenia, and making this documentary gave me new insights about what it is like to have this illness and overcome the obstacles in life that it presents."
The three people who are featured in the documentary have overcome their symptoms - which can be debilitating and frightening for many - through adhering to medication, surrounding themselves with a supportive network of friends and family and working toward their life goals.
Those who have the disorder can take hope from these stories. Those who seek immediate treatment and buy Zyprexa to alleviate their symptoms can still lead full lives.
