Extended prescriptions for statin medications from a Canadian internet pharmacy can reduce waste
Preventing high cholesterol can be as simple as acquiring the right medications at discounted prices from a Canadian internet pharmacy, and doctors often recommend that patients buy Lipitor for this purpose.
Preventing high cholesterol can be as simple as acquiring the right medications at discounted prices from a Canadian internet pharmacy, and doctors often recommend that patients buy Lipitor for this purpose. In general, there are many effective statins on the market. According to a study conducted by Prime Therapeutics, 90-day statin drug claims filed through a mail service pharmacy help reduce waste more effectively than those from a retail pharmacy.
The findings will be presented at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy's 23rd Annual Meeting and Showcase on April 27-29.
According to researchers, waste occurs when patients stop taking drugs before the entire supply is used. More patients who have chronic illnesses are switching to 90-day prescriptions, which may not only reduce waste, but could enhance medication adherence.
"As an increasing number of patients move to 90-day prescriptions, this study shows that we have an opportunity to reduce medication waste as a result of dosage or drug switch if patients fill their prescriptions through mail service," said Patrick Gleason, director of clinical outcomes assessment for Prime Therapeutics.
Those who buy Lipitor and other statins with an extended prescription from a Canadian internet pharmacy may not only be saving money, but reducing waste and optimizing their adherence to the medications.
