Individuals who search for their prescription medications through a Canadian online pharmacy may find significant discounts. These resources offer a wealth of products for many ailments, including diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a drug called vandetanib, which was designed to treat patients with late-stage medullary thyroid cancer.
This disease, which can occur spontaneously or as a result of heritability, represents about 5 percent of all thyroid cancers. Its incidence is estimated to be about 1,300 patients in the U.S., according to the National Cancer Institute.
Vandetanib works by targeting the ability of tumors to grow and expand, and is administered orally on a daily basis. The drug passed tests for safety and effectiveness in a clinical trial conducted among 331 patients with late-stage medullary thyroid cancer.
"Vandetanib's approval underscores the FDA's commitment to approving treatments for patients with rare and difficult-to-treat diseases," said Richard Pazdur, an expert at the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
New and effective medications for countless ailments are being approved each day. Buying these products from a Canadian online pharmacy may enable patients to save a significant amount of money.
