Future tests for blood glucose may analyze tear drops

Chronic conditions such as diabetes can be costly for patients, who can save money if they buy Canadian Actos or over the counter medications such as insulin through an online Canadian pharmacy. Whether an individual has type 1 or type 2 diabetes, regular tests for blood sugar are a routine part of care. In the future, patients may be able to conduct such screening with their tears instead of their blood.
Some individuals dread the discomfort that comes with pricking their skin for blood samples. If they decide to cut corners with their glucose tests, it may render their diabetes treatment ineffective, according to research published in the journal Analytical Chemistry. With that in mind, a team of scientists is trying to create a device that can measure glucose levels through tear drops instead of blood.
In order to validate their approach, the researchers analyzed tear drops from rabbits and discovered that this method can measure blood sugar.
"Thus, it may be possible to measure tear glucose levels multiple times per day to monitor blood glucose changes without the potential pain from the repeated invasive blood drawing method," said the team.
Cases of diabetes, particularly type 2 of the illness, are on the rise in part because of growing trends in obesity, according to the researchers.
