New drug to treat headaches shows success in clinical trials

Recently, in recognition of National Migraine Awareness Month, pharmaceutical company Zogenix launched a Phase 4 clinical study of a drug called SUMAVEL Dosepro, which aims to relieve the pain and discomfort of this type of headache.
"Migraines are a serious medical condition that can severely impair a patient's ability to function in day-to-day activities," said Roger K. Cady, chairman of the National Headache Foundation. "They are difficult to treat because there is a broad spectrum of migraines with significant variability in intensity, nausea, associated vomiting and speed of onset."
The study revealed that patients who had been given SUMAVEL Dosepro experienced greater overall satisfaction in terms of freedom from pain and immediate relief.
