Patients who have type 2 diabetes are often advised to buy Actos in order to achieve better blood glucose control. This disease affects millions of people all over the world every year, prompting the launch of tools to help them manage their symptoms. Recently, a new computerized prescribing decision support resource was created in order to help healthcare professionals treat adult patients with the condition.
The tool was developed at Keele University's Department of Medicines Management and features user-friendly software that delivers recommendations for individualized prescribing. This technology cross-references patient profiles with a number of treatment algorithms based upon expert guidelines.
"With the growing number of anti-diabetes agents at our disposal, we anticipate that this intuitive tool will easily guide the prescriber through what may otherwise be an ever more complex evidence base," said lead investigator Stephen Chapman, a professor of prescribing studies at Keele University.
He added that this resource is also meant to support the consultation process through the use of a dashboard-like visual aid. Providers will also receive a personalized patient printout that summarizes the consultation, making the process easy, efficient and convenient.
