Understanding more about prescription medications can help senior patients stay safe

Buying cheap medication from Canada can help seniors save money during the critical age of retirement, when financial stability is every bit as important as maintaining good health.

Buying cheap medication from Canada can help seniors save money during the critical age of retirement, when financial stability is every bit as important as maintaining good health. Making purchases through a reliable Canadian online pharmacy, which provides important information on different medicines, can ensure that elderly people stay safe.

A recent study from the University of Nottingham reported that older individuals who are taking new generation antidepressants may have a higher risk of dying or suffering from severe conditions like stroke, fractures and epilepsy.

Lead author Carol Coupland and her colleagues published their findings in the British Medical Journal, explaining that drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) have been linked to adverse outcomes in patients over the age of 65 who are suffering from depression.

"This was an unexpected finding, and so further research using other data sources is needed to confirm these [results] as well as provide more evidence on the benefits of different antidepressants in this group of people," Coupland explained.

Understanding more about the prescription medications they use may help reduce the likelihood of such adverse events among elderly patients.
